How Much You Should Be eating For Your Goals

Most of us understand what a calorie is and isn’t but do we know how much we should be taking in for our specific goals? Obviously, there is so much science to put into this answer but I am going to attempt to simplify it for everyone. Knowing what they are is one thing. Counting them for a goal is another. Here are a few tips for you to find out what your “calories” are and how they can help you reach your health goals.

Example – 200lbs man

 Calorie Goals! Figure out your goal! Do you want to lose weight, gain weight, maintain weight. To pick your caloric level it will be a range again. I use the low end for non-workout days and the high end for workout days

 Weight loss = ______12 to 14 _______ x body weight

 Maintain = _________15 – 17 _________ x body weight

 Weight gain = ______18 – 20__________x body weight

 Since I’m maintaining – 3,000 calories on off days, 3,400 calories on workout days. This is almost identical to how I eat now.   Counting calories isn’t always a necessity but understanding what is going into your body is important, at least initially.

Counting macros(protein, carbs, fats) and calories are only beneficial for you if the process of doing so doesn’t affect you in a negative mental space.  There are so many ways to begin your journey, this is only one of them! If you have questions, please feel free to reach out.
