In August, Priority Life Care officially kicked off our Community Wellness Champion Program, and we are already seeing exactly why this program matters.
The idea behind the program is pretty simple: the people who know a community best are the people who live and work inside it every day.
Our Wellness Champions weren’t chosen because we needed someone to run another corporate program. They were chosen because of who they already are within their communities. They are connectors. Encouragers. People others trust. People willing to step up and help make work a little better for the people around them.
August was our starting point, and 31 communities submitted their first monthly Champion report. That gave us our first look at what is happening across PLC—from employee recognition and wellness activities to welcoming new hires, creating social connections, celebrating teams, and simply making sure people feel seen.
And that’s really what this is about.
More Than Wellness
Wellness isn’t just exercise and nutrition.
It’s walking into work and feeling like you belong there. It’s having someone notice when you’ve done a great job. It’s knowing people outside your department. It’s welcoming the new employee instead of expecting them to figure everything out themselves.
It’s connection, recognition, purpose and taking care of each other.
Our Champions are helping us build more of those moments.
We give them guidelines and ideas, but the Champion is more important than the guideline.
Every PLC community is different. What works in Pennsylvania might not work in Florida, Michigan or Indiana. We want our Champions to take the framework, add their personality, listen to their coworkers and make it their own.
Celebrating Our August Champions
With our first month complete, we also want to recognize the three Champions and communities that led the way in August:
🥇 1st Place — Reedsville
Wellness Champion: Mitzi Lane
$100 Visa Gift Card
🥈 2nd Place — Nittany Valley
Wellness Champion: Kayla Benson
$75 Visa Gift Card
🥉 3rd Place — Las Palmas
Wellness Champion: Nicole Guadagni
$50 Visa Gift Card
Congratulations to Mitzi, Kayla and Nicole—and thank you for setting the tone for what this program can become.
But this isn’t only about who finishes in the Top 3.
Every conversation matters. Every employee welcomed matters. Every person recognized matters. Every time someone who normally sits on the outside gets invited in, that matters.
Now We Build
August was the kickoff.
September is about putting the program into motion with four simple ideas:
CONNECT → ENGAGE → RECOGNIZE → BELONG
We’re going to keep learning, adjusting and sharing the ideas that work across our communities.
The goal isn’t to make every PLC community exactly the same.
The goal is to give great people the support and freedom to make their own communities better.
Thank you to every Wellness Champion who stepped up in August.
We’re just getting started.
